Belinda Byrne joined FSI as associate director for administration and faculty affairs in April 2005. She directs the operations of FSI's central office, serves as the Institute's administrative liaison with the dean's office, and manages the academic affairs of FSI and its affiliated faculty.

Prior to FSI, she served as associate director for Stanford's Beckman Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine and, before that, as senior producer for the Stanford University Libraries in the development of educational and training software. Before coming to Stanford, she served as an educational specialist on the faculty of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, developing print, software, and web publications for continuing medical education.

She earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in educational technology from San Francisco State University.
